Claude Raymond - Séance d'autographes privée
Claude Raymond, affectionately nicknamed "Frenchy" by his American teammates, is one of the great Quebec pioneers of Major League Baseball. Born in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, in 1937, this right-handed relief pitcher enjoyed an outstanding 12-season MLB career (1959–1971), playing primarily for the Braves and the Astros before earning a selection to the 1966 MLB All-Star Game.
His career reached a historic milestone in 1969 when he was traded to the Montreal Expos, becoming the first Quebec-born player to suit up for the hometown franchise. In front of the fans at Jarry Park, Raymond delivered some of the finest performances of his career, including 23 saves during the 1970 season.
After retiring with 83 career saves, Claude Raymond remained one of Quebec's most beloved baseball figures. For nearly 30 years, he served as the voice of the Expos on radio and television while also contributing as a coach. A member of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame, he continues to be admired for his kindness, excellence, and lifelong dedication as an outstanding ambassador for the game.
